Marry de Gaay Fortman

Marry de Gaay Fortman graduated from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam in 1988 and joined Houthoff Buruma as a lawyer. In 1997 she became a partner at Houthoff Buruma for the real Estate/Public Law section in Amsterdam and in the period from 2001 to 2007 she was also a Managing Partner of the firm.

Marry de Gaay Fortman serves in the department of Real Estate/Public Law. She specialises in environmental law, (spatial) public law, procurement law and health care. Apart from in the Regulatory and Real Estate sector, she is active in the regulated, health care, telecom and energy markets. She is a member of the Sustainability Committee of VNO-NCW (the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers). She advises health care institutions and government bodies on health care issues. She recently advised an international (US) health care institution on a case which related to the Netherlands.

Marry de Gaay Fortman is a member of the Supervisory Board of Royal Haskoning and a member of the Supervisory Council of the Childcare Guarantee Fund.  She is a board member of ICC Nederland (part of ICC The World Business Organisation) and a board member of the Netherlands Institute for International Relations Clingendael. She is also a member of the Central Planning Committee of the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis CPB. In the cultural sector, she is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and of the Nederlands Dans Theater.

Within the health care sector she is the chair of the Supervisory Council of AMREF Flying Doctors Nederland, a member of the Supervisory Council of the mental health care institution ParnassiaBavo Groep and a member of the Advisory Council of the Dutch Healthcare Authority. Skipr (2009) listed Marry on the list of 100 most influencial persons in the health care sector in the Netherlands.
