AMREF Germany is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Marcus Leonhardt as the new Director/CEO starting January 1, 2009.
Marcus (41) is a medical doctor and over the years, he has practised in the UK, the USA and in Argentina.
He also has garnered extensive experience in the television-film industry; working as script writer and producer for various medical and feature television projects. Marcus is also an aviation enthusiast and he sits on the board of Germany's largest privately-run museum for aviation history the "Luftfahrtmuseum Hannover, Collection Günter Leonhardt.”
Speaking while welcoming him, AMREF Germany founder Leonore Semler said, “We are very excited to have Marcus joining the AMREF family. He brings great experience to our organization and will play a major role in supporting our fight against diseases and poverty in Africa.”
Marcus hopes that he will have the opportunity to make some use of his experiences over the years to contribute to AMREF's important health development mandate.
“I feel truly honoured to join AMREF and really look forward to playing my part to contribute to AMREF’s noble mission in ensuring better health in Africa,” he added.
AMREF Germany was founded in 1963 and to date supports various projects including AMREF’s Virtual Nursing School among others.
