Purpose

The purpose of this course is to enable participants acquire in-depth knowledge and skills on how to manage hospitals in a resource limited environment.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, the participants should be able to:

  1. Define the concept of hospital administration and management
  2. Analyse the roles and challenges of various components of a hospital 
  3. Describe the  management principles and approaches used in hospitals 
  4. Apply quality management models in hospitals
  5. Appreciate the role of HMIS in hospitals and how to generate, analyze and use information for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health outcomes
  6. Undertake a project to address hospital administration challenges in a selected department in a hospital
