Conference Facilities

AMREF Conference Facility

The AMREF Training centre was opened in 2001. In addition to carrying out AMREF training, the centre also has facilities available for hire. An ideal venue for workshops, seminars and conferences the centre is popular with non-governmental and governmental organisations, educational groups and private corporations.

Location

The centre is conveniently located directly opposite Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, home to the Flying Doctors Society and AMREF’s HQ. It is readily accessible from central Nairobi with plenty of parking space. Set among attractive gardens, the centre has a range of rooms and facilities that can be used for any kind of conference, seminar, workshop or exhibition.

Facilities

The facility incorporates a large auditorium, two galleries, an executive board room and several smaller meeting rooms.

We provide full support services, with a comprehensive AV department offering PA, video equipment, LCD and overhead projectors, flip charts and translation services- with trained technicians on hand for support.

An on site business centre offers secretarial services and telephone, fax, internet and email, CD writing and copying.

A full catering department can provide tea, coffee and snacks to the conference rooms, and lunches and meals on request.

The Resource Centre

The AMREF Health Resource Centre is Sub-Saharan Africa's biggest. Health practitioners and researchers from around the world can acess both published material and AMREF's own reports

AMREF's great strength

AMREF’s great strength is its ability to realise the African community's potential. A community health worker in Uganda likened AMREF’s technique to that of a knife sharpener: “We were blunt tools in the community until AMREF sharpened us.”

We are commited to Learning

All AMREF projects have a learning objective, and AMREF has a commitment to share that learning with others, within and without the organisation.

Sharing

Sharing what we have learnt from our projects has made it possible for other organisations to replicate what we have done and learnt across the African continent and world wide.
Our health education materials have been used across the globe. We have seen our advice on health policy taken up at community, district, and government levels.
